Payouts & billing

KYC verification

The one-time identity check creators complete before the first payout.

Every paying creator on Avatok completes a one-time KYC (know-your-customer) check before the first payout. This is required by US financial regulations.

What you need

  • A government-issued photo ID (passport, driver's license, national ID).
  • A device with a front-facing camera for the selfie.
  • A bank account in a Stripe-supported country.
  • Tax info — US creators submit a W-9; non-US creators submit a W-8BEN. Stripe collects both inline.

The flow

Avatok redirects you into Stripe Identity. Snap the ID, take the selfie, fill in the tax form, connect the bank account. Most people finish in under five minutes.

If something gets flagged

Common reasons a verification gets flagged: glare on the ID, blurry selfie, mismatched address. Stripe surfaces the exact reason and you can retry from the wallet UI without redoing the steps that passed.

What we see vs. what Stripe sees

Stripe stores the actual ID document and selfie; Avatok sees only the verification result (verified / pending / failed) and the metadata Stripe shares with us (legal name, country, last 4 of the bank account). We never see your ID image.

Resubmission and appeals

You can resubmit a failed verification up to 5 times in 24 hours. If you've hit the cap and it's still failing, write to support@avatok.ai with the verification id — we can reset the counter and look at the specific failure reason.

Still stuck?

Write to support@avatok.ai. We answer every email and we'd rather hear from you than have you give up.
