Platform fees
How much Avatok takes, and how creator-pays vs user-pays work.
Avatok has one fee. It applies on every product (live, 1:1, group, marketplace). It is capped at 10% for most creators. The exact rate by tier is on the pricing page.
What the fee covers
The platform fee is the whole cost of using Avatok. There's no monthly subscription, no payout fee, no separate listing fee. Stripe's payment- processing fee is deducted from the platform balance before our math hits your wallet, so it's already absorbed by the time you see your release amount.
Creator-pays vs user-pays
Every offering has a fee-bearer mode. The math is identical from Avatok's side; only the UX is different.
- Creator-pays. Viewer sees your listed price ($100), pays $100. Fee is deducted on settlement. Your wallet credit is $90.
- User-pays. You list $100. Fee is added at checkout. Viewer sees $110, pays $110. Your wallet credit is $100.
Which mode should you pick
Pick creator-pays when a clean round number is part of the marketing. Pick user-pays when you have a specific take-home target in mind and want it exact. Both convert at roughly the same rate.
Switching modes
You can change the mode on an offering from Edit offering. The change applies to new bookings; existing confirmed bookings settle in the mode that was in effect at booking time.
