Joining a live show

Joining

Open your ticketed show from “All my bookings” or the link in your confirmation. The page loads with the show’s poster and details; tap Join, and if the stream hasn’t started yet you’ll see a countdown. Once the creator goes live, playback starts automatically — you don’t need to refresh.

When a show counts as “over”

A show moves through a few states, and avaTOK — every page that shows it, checkout included — reads all of them from the same clock, so they agree on whether a show is over:

  • Upcoming — before the scheduled start.
  • Starting — the scheduled start time has passed but the platform has not yet seen the creator actually go live.
  • Live — the creator is confirmed live.
  • Ended — the show is over, either because its scheduled time has fully passed or because it was marked complete.
  • Cancelled — a show the creator cancelled; tickets are refunded.

New bookings, and late joins, stay open for about 15 minutes after the scheduled start even if the creator has not gone live yet — that is the same grace window used everywhere else in the system. New tickets can be bought for about 15 minutes after the scheduled start, even if the creator hasn’t gone live yet; after that, checkout says booking has closed. If the creator hasn’t gone live by then, tickets are cancelled and refunded as a creator no-show (see below).

A show that was never marked live and whose scheduled end has already passed is also hidden from marketplace listings, even before the system has finished formally closing it out — so you will not run into a “join” link for a show that has clearly already finished.

If the creator never starts the show

If the creator still hasn’t gone live about 15 minutes after the scheduled start, you don’t need to raise a support ticket. avaTOK’s automatic check cancels your ticket as a creator no-show and refunds it in full, whether or not you had opened the show page. The refund goes back the way you paid (to your token balance if you paid from it); a refund to UPI or a card can take a little time to show at your bank. See Refunds & Cancellations for how refunds work more generally.

If the creator went live but the show ended early or they dropped off, it isn’t refunded automatically — email support@avatok.ai with your booking details and we’ll review it.
